The canyon tanks are located on a remote mountain top near Glenwood Springs, CO. Access was difficult.

The project called for the replacement of old, wooden flume pipeline with a new burried pipeline. The pipeline connected to the new water tanks on the other side of the mountain top. To avoid thousands of feet of digging, the decision was made to bore 270' through the mountain, instead of trenching around it.

The ground conditions consisted of solid rock. This required the use of a specially designed rock head that utilized mini disc cutters.

The entry side of the project, accessed by winding mountain roads.

The exit side. The new line would be installed by trenching to this point, then diverted through the newly installed tunnel.

The back side of the project was even more remote than the entry. Equipment could only be removed by helicopter.

The last of the equipment being removed from the site.
